El Cortijo La Solana is reached via a dirt track road for some 2km from the main Torvizcon to Cadiar road and as such is quite rural. There are two good sized houses one which has been restored to a degree and the other to completely renovate and restore. One house adjoins the other. The land here is very steep with the house built on a flat level which gives way to land which goes steeply down and then up to the side of the mountain in front and then over and up to the side of the mountain behind. The habitable house has had all the ceiling beams and cane restored and in places renewed in keeping with the traditional style. The house has its own bodega for wine which includes the traditional area for treading grapes with cellar under to contain the pressed wine which can then be pumped into vats etc. Cooking is still undertaken on the open fire to the side of which is a magnificent traditional bread oven. Stairs lead up to the second floor. Here there are several more rooms (approx 4 large rooms) one of which still houses the built in animal feeders. From this level there is a balcony with views of the surrounding mountainside and countryside and stairs down to ground level. Each house has approximately 7 rooms with additional animal corales to restore. Parking is to the side of the house. With some planning a good sized terrace could be constructed all around both houses and terracing would provide access to the steep land. Electricity would be by generator or solar energy. Mains water has been brought to within a few yards of the property and just needs to be connected. Telephone would be satellite. The property has its own water source (springs) for irrigation purposes.
